Class: 1S2/1L2   Date:  08.06.09  Lesson:  25 - Last Lesson.

Project: The Second World War; America joins the war.

Lesson Plan: We went through the homwork; some questions and two documents from the class book (page 65) about American involvement in the Second World War.  Then the students had a text to read in the manual, International Relations, followed by some questions.

We finished with a short video clip of the war in the Pacific (3") which the students watched twice followed by some questions which focussed on the highlights of this conflict.

We ended the lesson by looking at Joe Rosenthal's photograph of the American soldiers raising the American flag on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima in February 1945.

Class: 2nd 3   Date: 05.06.09   Lessons 25

Project:  The French Revolution
Lesson Plan.   We held a debate, the motion of which was: "Is Marie-Antoinette guilty of treason? If yes, what should her punishment be?  If not, what should we do with her?"
The students worked in small groups and brainstormed arguments and ideas in English.  Then the chairperson, as well as Marie-Antoinette, 3 speakers for and 3 against were nominated.  The debate took place and the chairperson then opened the debate to questions 'from the floor'.  At the end of the debate a vote was held and following the verdict the students had to make suggestions regarding Marie-Antoinette's fate.
Next lesson will be our last lesson.  I shall have the whole class together in B119 for two hours.
