Class:  2nd 4                Date: 28.09.09           Lesson: 3

Project: Extreme weather hazards - the hurricane.

Lesson Plan:  We began the evaluations for the first term; three pairs of students gave us the weather forecast.

We corrected the homework in class; documents 1, 2 & 3, pp. 106-107 of the class manual, which were about extreme weather hazards and natural disasters.  We concentrated on the hurricane.  I asked students if anyone had experienced a hurricane and then I handed out a reading comprehension text to students with a number of questions.  Students worked individually on the text and then we corrected orally. 

Next lesson we will work on a case study of hurricane Gilbert. 

Homework:  Students were given a photocopy with activities to do on the BBC bitesize website for geography.

Project:  The Weather.

Lesson Plan:  We began with a roleplay in pairs.  Students had to plan a weekend camping in the British Isles but each student only had the weather forecast for one day.  They had to exchange information orally, decide where to go and explain why to the class. 

We then watched a weather forecast on the BBC.  Students had some key words beforehand and then they had to fill in missing words/expressions on a worksheet.  They watched the clip three times before we corrected the worksheet.

Information: We then fixed the dates for the students to give the weather forecast in pairs in class. 
I am absent in October.

Homework:  Read and answer the questions for documents 1, 2 and 3, pp. 106-7, for next Monday.

Class:  2nd 4                Date: 07.09.09           Lesson: 1

Project:  Introductions and Information.

Lesson Plan:  I introduced myself and gave students information about the year's programme, my marking scheme and the web address for my blog which includes a contact address. 

Students then worked in pairs and interviewed each other before introducing their partner to me and the class.  Students had an opportunity to ask me questions.

Brief warm-up regarding today's weather and the forecast for the weekend.


Homework: Students need to find a partner for next week's activity.  They must also look at the vocabulary used for describing the weather.
